Granville Street Bridge Views

Ended up on a little stroll along the Granville Street Bridge last night and had to stop at a few spots to capture (what I think) are some funky photos! I’ve been trying to get a picture of the painted silos for a while but could never find an angle that I liked; but I like how this angle allows you to see the city in the background. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to the weather warming up a little more so I can get out to take more night shots (well, so I can take more and not be cold).

February Freddy Beach

Back in NB for another visit, which isn’t the ideal time to be in the maritimes, but am making the most of my visit (as always). Spent Saturday afternoon at the Clay Cafe creating some art for friends and “family,” and the evening capturing a few shots of St. Thomas University. With the evening being capped off with a visit from the worlds cutest puppy!

Baby Super Model!

Taking photos is so much more fun when your model is the cutest little 11-month old imaginable; especially when she knows how to smile for the camera! Baby Hayden was a little shy of her “Uncle Mikey” when I first arrived on Friday, but after a weekend of Xbox games, lounging on the couch, and Super Bowl excitement, it was time to get the camera out! And as you can tell, this 11-month old isn’t afraid of the camera!

Free Photoshoot

Hey Vancouver! As I am slowly getting things up and running with my website I am looking for friends, family, or acquaintances to do a photoshoot with. This will merely give me the opportunity to fine-tune my skills a little further before I start booking official appointments. If you are interested send me an email and we can hopefully find a time that works (usually on weekends)!

Whistler Wonderland

With clear skies in the forecast yesterday was the perfect day for a road trip to Whistler. We hopped in the car, escaped the fog, and arrived just in time for the gondola to be CLOSED for tourists… oh well! We made the most out of the situation and went on a small hike by the creek instead! It truly felt like we were in a “winter wonderland” – there was so much snow and we both needed an escape from the city. It was particularly beautiful as the sun went down and the peeks of each mountain glistened with gold; but I was too busy having a beer to capture that with my camera! Nonetheless, we have already planned our next trip back to ski and to participate in “Winter Pride!”

Freezing Fog

For some reason I woke up VERY early this morning and couldn’t fall back asleep – so I decided to make the most of it and head out on a little early morning photo adventure. Although my initial plan was to capture the sunrise from Jericho Beach, I quickly realized that there wouldn’t be any sunrise today given the thick fog! But, that was okay! Apart from the below-zero temperature I thoroughly enjoying my walk around Jericho Beach and managed to capture some of the “Freezing Fog” that was rolling through.

Purple and Pink Skies

As I was driving down Cambie street, and after spending the day shopping for my belated Christmas celebrations, I simply had to go check out the sunset. The sky was radiant with pink and purple, and I had my camera in the back seat! I wracked my brain to think of a vantage point to capture the city and sky, but couldn’t think of anything so decided to pull over at 12th and Yukon to snap a picture. After a few minutes I thought I would go down to Granville Island but on my way came across the most amazing view and yet again had to stop to capture what I saw! Take a look and let me know what you think!

PS – I’ve included the location below of where I captured the second picture from.

Toronto!

I recently spent some time visiting my sister in Hamilton, Ontario, and even though it is itself a beautiful city, I simply had to make the trek into Toronto for a day of “photo-adventuring” around the city. Thankfully my sister joined me; she drove and I navigated. I had done my research so we knew of a few places we wanted to go, but the most exciting locations were the ones we hadn’t planned!

Home / McAdam Railway Station

Being from a very small town in rural New Brunswick I am incredibly proud of where I come from! And am equally proud of my town’s only claim to fame; the McAdam Railway Station! I went up to the station after being in Fredericton for the weekend so I could get a nice nighttime shot as a Christmas present for my aunt (and because it was calling for rain for the next few days). It was incredibly cold, but my patience paid off and I managed to capture these two photos; and I’m so happy that I surprisingly caught a small glimpse of the Northern Lights. Needless to say, my aunt was very happy with her Christmas present (especially because I also managed to locate the perfect frame to go with it).

Ultimate Frisbee

As always I spent some time in Fredericton, NB over the holidays so I could visit friends and reminisce about my university days. A close friend was playing in an ultimate frisbee tournament on campus, so I decided it would be a great opportunity to practice my skills at capturing some action-shots. The lighting in the facility was quite dim, so I was forced to turn my ISO up (which I generally don’t like to do), but I was left with no other option. Nonetheless, I’m satisfied with the result!
