Amanda and Alex’s Valentines Day Wedding

I consider myself VERY lucky to know Amanda and Alex, or as I now reference them, Lily and Marshal (from How I Met Your Mother) – more on that later! For the longest time it seemed that everyone knew that these two were destined for each other, except for them. Well, maybe that isn’t entirely true, but we all wanted it to happen at a faster rate than they were willing to move. After what seemed like an eternity Alex finally mustered up the courage to ask Amanda out, and the rest (as they say), is history! When I reflect back on the days when we all lived in residence together at UNB I have a hard time thinking about a time when these two weren’t together; which for me is a representation of just how strong their bond was, and still is. Similarly, it’s also why I told Amanda during the reception (after a few drinks I’m sure) that she and Alex reminded me of Lily and Marshal from “How I Met Your Mother” – to which she obviously replied “really… what do you mean?” Now, I’m sure that my response wasn’t particularly well-worded, but the gist of what I said is this: “During the entire nine seasons of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Lily and Marshal face many difficulties and cross-roads, but as an audience member you ALWAYS knew that everything would be okay. That regardless of the situation, as outrageous as they sometimes were, that Lily and Marshal would work it out in the end. Not because they were great problem-solvers, but because they were honest, faithful, and loved one another too much to ever let anything come between them. And for our circle of friends, during our time at UNB, that is what Amanda and Alex meant to us.” Perhaps this isn’t the best analogy for a Valentine’s Day wedding, but hopefully the sentiment of what I was trying to get at was appreciated!

Wishing you both all the best, and I look forward to watching your multi-year sitcom play out in real life!! 🙂

PS – thanks Alex for asking me to take a few shots while we all got ready to head to the ceremony. I don’t currently have a flash so it was challenged to get some decent shots given the low lighting of the hotel room, but these few shots are fairly good (and not too grainy!).
